'AAY', 'Committee Kurrollu' revive Dil Raju's faith in old strategy

Dil Raju has always been at the forefront of introducing new directors. 'Bommarillu' Bhaskar was among the first ones to be introduced by Sri Venkateswara Creations. Dil Raju Productions, run by his daughter, made a splash last year by introducing Venu Yeldandi as a filmmaker with 'Balagam'. In a way, Hanshitha Reddy is walking in the footsteps of her dad.

Lately, though, small movies have been dented by the OTT craze. They rarely do well in theatres. Dil Raju today said that he, till recently, entertained doubts about his strategy of producing small films. "I started wondering if small films are viable in this era. But the success of 'AAY' and 'Committee Kurrollu' recently revived my faith in my old belief that new directors must be introduced through small films. There will always be both hits and misses," Dil Raju said today.

He awaits the release of 'Janaka Aithe Ganaka' on September 7. Starring Suhas in the lead, the film will be released with paid premieres on the evening of September 6. "Premieres prove to be a good strategy when the 'word of mouth' turns out to be strong. Otherwise, collections will take a hit on the opening day," Raju said.
