'The GOAT' is a joke: Director's CSK comment backfires

In a recent interview, director Venkat Prabhu conceived a bizarre explanation for why Thalapathy Vijay's 'The GOAT' has been a flop in Telugu and Hindi. "I guess my movie didn't work well with the Hindi and Telugu audience because of the CSK (the IPL team) references in the movie. Mumbai Indians and RCB fans troll me all the time just because I am a CSK fan," he has been quoted as saying. CSK, standing for Chennai Super Kings, is glorified in the climax sequence of 'The GOAT', which hti the cinemas on September 5. MS Dhoni's batting attack also finds space in the climax.

Venkat Prabhu has been trolled by the Telugu audience for the strange excuse. After Hrithik Roshan's 'Fighter' (Hindi) flopped at the box office earlier this year, director Siddharth Anand said that the audience didn't understand the aerial action thriller movie because 90% of them haven't flown in planes ever. Venkat Prabhu's reasoning is in a similar space.

'The GOAT' is a total washout in Telugu. The momentum provided by 'Master' and 'Leo' has been squandered away by the film.
