The makers of Game Changer have claimed that their movie grossed Rs 186 Cr on Day 1. But box office trackers have stated that the political action entertainer collected at least Rs 100 Cr lesser than the claimed figure.
Game Changer, starring Ram Charan in a dual role, must have grossed about Rs 85 Cr at the worldwide box office. The opening-day collections were not on expected lines in the Hindi belt. Surprisingly, even Nizam and Ceded markets didn't fetch humongous openings befitting a pan-Indian, big-scale movie.
The film's genre never made it seem like an event film. To make matters worse, Game Changer started incurring the wrath of negative 'word of mouth' right after earning morning shows. The mid-night shows in Andhra Pradesh didn't translate into any hype. Director Shankar has been blasted by Mega fans themselves.
There is a rumour that Pushpa 2: The Rule is replacing many screens/shows allotted to Game Changer in some markets. If Daaku Maharaaj and Sankranthiki Vasthunam gather positive talk on the back of good content, the game will truly be over for Game Changer by the end of the Sankranthi holiday season. For the Global Star, this failure is a shocking setback.
